NEGATIVES ARE UNOBSTRUCTIVE

Aren’t negative spaces beautiful?

THERE’S NO POSITIVE WITHOUT A NEGATIVE.

Similarly how mathematics certifies us how two negatives makes a positive.

Being into design it’s fascinating to witness how different elements maintains balance. Isn’t it captivating to witness how each and every element in itself absorbs the another one creating an immensly alluring visual. The very basic thing that we have been always knowledgable about is a single element in a frame wont make it complete? Remember the very first sceneries you would have ever made, did they just have a hut or just mountains no we wouldn’t stop scribbling on the paper until we were done making a mountain, a river ,a hut and some tinny little grasses. But why? Aren’t negative spaces beautiful enough?

In a very simpler way, the negative space is basically the space between people, and includes everything other than the “subjects” in the scene. Our brains are full of preconceived ideas about the way objects looks in terms of their physical countenances and so on. Unfortunately these preconceptions dismantles the way we view a scene. But negative space isn’t only just what it rings like. Though its appeallative,it makes it seem as though it’s simply a lack of something, whereas it’s actually a big part of the principles that makes up the balance of design. The conventional way of understanding and measuring drags back from what children are taught in the school about how environment relies heavily on what is visible.

When we think about positives and negatives in a broadway, we are tended towards thinking of lights and darks or blacks and whites. This is not so when we speak about positive and negative spaces. White spaces give collocation and a hierarchy to the layouts. It gives us a chance to pause and reflect on the message. Keep in mind that “nothing says a lot.” It may be an empty area but properly accquired , it will never be meaningless. It will give us an area to think, not pre accquiring the mind and allowing free thought and flexibility to alter it according to our own conceptions.

Did you notice the negative space is actually shapes within a frame? Negative space isn’t the absence of space but rather the space that defines the positive space.

We are talking about space, one of the root element in art and an key factor in composition. Essentially, a composition is made up of the frame of the artwork and the positive and negative spaces within that frame. The negative space helps characterising the positive space; negative space as being as important as the material itself.

If negative spaces are given equal importance as to the positive forms, all parts of the composition seem interesting and all work together to create a unified image. If, on the other hand, the focus is almost entirely on the positive forms, the drawing may seem uninteresting and disunified, even boring — no matter how beautifully rendered the positive form may be. A strong focus on negative spaces will make these basic instructional drawings strong in composition and beautiful to look at.
